make a 3d model in cad, take it into sketchup. set the view in sketchup to "perspective", section slice the 3d model, and align the view so you're screen is parallel with cut plane and you see a sectional perspective. Then use the clever sketchup export command that allows you to export as 2d exactly what you see on the screen. It can do just the cut, or the cut and what's behind.
Sometimes messes up if the scene is really detailed though - test first i guess. Normally a bit of clean-up in cad after is all it needs though.
other than that i've just seen (at crit today) the most fantastic one done just as a single-point perspective, then photoshopped with textures. Rivalled stuff coming from the low-level rendering packages. |
