I need to build a 2 hour rated wall in a crawlspace. There is no slab in the space, so I'm concerned about my rated materials coming in contact with the the ground. Has anyone else designed such a wall? If so, what materials did they use?

CMU is not really an option as the space is only 36" high or so. I would like to make a stud wall with 2 layers of type x board suitable for contact with the ground.

Any ideas?

I would consider metal studs with green board (wallboard board used in showers...they're actually grey), then either stucco over metal lath or maybe a aluminum siding. In both scenarios I would pour a raised curb to receive this wall system and add a backer rod at the base and caulk the hell out of it...then paint. The other question is I suppose the crawl space is beneath a floor. Is the floor well insulated?

Oh, forgot to clarify the two-hour assembly...a 2hr rated wall could be two single layers on each side or a double layer on one, of type "X" gypsum wallboard. The wallboard must be minimum "C" rating and green board is not fire resistant so this would have to be an added layer. I also would recommend other than the green board, the concrete backerboard which can actually get wet and maintain it's integrity. Make sure the backerboard is applied on the exteriro of the typ "x" wallboard. And also very important and often overlooked are all the penetrations...which have to be roughed in first, drywalled in and THEN firestopped (they have foam material that works great but looks terrible). Either way, it requires some more homework...
