You know, if this is how painful it has to be to update software on a mac, imagine how hard it is on a PC.

The update is available by.
1.) Turn off all externals in the Loader.
2.) Quit all other applications.
3.) Do not let the computer go to sleep.
4.) Quit PowerCADD and:
5.) Place the attached ES Update in the following location after uncompressing.
A: Go to the PowerCADD folder and Control-Click on the PowerCADD application icon.
This will give a Contextual menu.
B: Select Show package contents and you will see a Contents folder.
C: Open the Contents folder and you will see a MacOS folder.
D: Drag the ES Update into the MacOS folder letting it replace the existing file.
6.) Run PowerCADD 8.
8.) Do not open any drawing.
9.) Do not use any tools or menus.
10.) Go to the Help menu and select the Updates menu.
11.) In the Authenticate dialog enter the Computer log in user name and password
12.) In the Updater settings dialog enter the log in of “YADDAYADDAYADDA” and the password of “ADDAYADDAYADDAY”.
The password will expire in approximately three working days.
13.) Remember to turn on the externals when finished.

Matt,
At least it looks like you received an email.
I've heard nothing and trying to obtain the update by using the "Updates..." menu item says I can't connect to the server!
I would certainly like ES to improve their communications to users and their update process. |

| I agree completely Matt. And what of us who manage a whole office with 20+ licenses? Why can't I just download a simple updater program or a copy of the already-updated program to do a network install? I've never run into a program that required hacking the package contents to install an update. |

Greg,
I ran into this also before, to fix the issue, turn off the "Update Check" in the loader, relaunch and manually get the update through the "Help" menu.
Installing 8 does look to be a pain, might be worth my while to drive down to the Carolinas with a blank disk. At least the office I'm in now only has 20 people, I used to have to manage 100.
Could be worse, Installing and Managing Revit required hiring more people in my old office. |

| While the current update process isn't optimum, I'm pretty sure ES isn't happy with it, either and will work to change whatever is dictating the procedure. I'm glad for the improvements to the program. |

This update thing is a real shocker! Who would have thought that Microsoft would have a smoother, simpler update system than ES? With MSWord or Acrobat, I just get a dialogue box that an update is available, do I want to load it? and it just gets done. I hope this process improves, or I won't be doing too many updates! _________________ Mac Pro 8-core, 9 Gig RAM, 4x500GB
