    |
|
In the page setup dialog for our plotter (HP455CA) there are 53 pre-defined page sizes.
These include such vital page definitioins as
SRA3
JB2
European Foolscap
Royal Quatro
and the ever-popular
Japanese Kaku Envelope #4
I would like to elimiinate these paper-sizes from the menu -- I find it tedious to have to scroll through them all to get to my custom page sizes at the very bottom of the list -- especially in that I use 3 page sizes (total) in two orientations...it seems inefficiient to me to have to repeatedly decline the opportunity to print on a Japanese Kaku envelope
#4 (what size Japanese Kaku Envelope do you regularly use?)
I've been unable to find the source data that the system is using to generate this menu...it must be in there somewhere.
Does anybody know where I should look? |

Matt,
What I have found is that the page sizes are written into the PPD of the printer and you have to go into text edit to modify that. If it is done incorrectly it might cause problems. There was a thread in the old forum about 4 or 5 months ago talking about how to do this with the PPD for an HP plotter. |

Use Find in the Finder to search for "ppd".
I found the ppds I was looking for at System Folder:Extensions:Printer Descriptions. Can be opened using TextEdit. There's a lot of stuff in there...I wouldn't want to mess with it unless I knew what I was doing. |

Check out this post from the old forum:

I think it should help. |

Turns out the correct ppd is located in the
/Private/etc/cups/ppd/ folder
open it and you'll see the page definitiions. You must be consistent about how you delete the descriptions, the lists repeat for different variables.
Thanks Andy. Now my menu has only 4 page sizes to choose from. Maybe tomorrow I'll add back in some custom page sizes...as defaults.. |
