I'm probably missing something, but is there a way to make the zoom tools/commands work like their Adobe counterparts - in other words, is there a way that when I click, that point becomes the center of the zoomed screen?
Cheers,

| Use the 'zoom in now' command. I believe it is assigned by default to the 1 key-otherwise assign it to something like the z key: when pressed, it zooms in centered at where the mouse is. |

| I've tried that command as well, and the point where the cursor is prior to the command is exactly the same point as after the command. Only the magnification level has changed. What I'm wanting is any command or click that would center the entire window around the mouse point. In other words, if I clicked in the lower left corner, the point I click (or have the mouse over) would now be in the center of the window. |

Interesting idea. Sort of a "Pan Now" function. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if that were the default behavior for the WildTools zoomer. (i.e. OPTION+COMMAND+CLICK = pan screen to center at cursor, OPTION+COMMAND+CLICK&DRAG = zoom to show enclosed area)
Currently the former zooms out where you click - so maybe the ultimate would be for a dialog to let you set the behavior of the single click as a percentage relative to the current view. So to get the current default, the setting would be 50% (I guess) and to get ValmontR's desired result the setting would be 100%. Then for the lazy-man's zoomer, you could set it to 400% and just zoom right in with two keys and one click (instead of, I guess, actually remembering to tap the 1 key a couple of times...) |

There are several navigation aids that can provide something similar to your description, including the Pan Tool, Overview Window, and the Wild Tools Zoomer (which I use almost exclusively with occasional resort to Command-F (Fit-to-Window) and the "N" key).
I think that it would be great for the Pan Tool to behave as you describe using an Option-Click... In the meantime, the Zoom-Now command works (to re-center the view) if you place your mouse judiciously before tapping the "1" key. _________________ Phil Loheed |

I know that there are work arounds using other tools, and I'm getting VERY good at divining the correct point to click to get the area I want zoomed in the center of the screen. It would be nice if there were an option to click and have that point in the screen center - as Adobe applications do.
Cheers!
