Any body using an HP 330 Designjet in conjunction with gimp-print? If so what driver are you using for it? _________________ Eddie Cook

Have you tried using one of the models below or above in the HP list, a 200 series, or 400 series?

Yes I have, it gives me the option of using the Series 200 and 400 but neither work. I tried the generic driver and that sent a brief signal to the plotter. But the plotter failed to print and the ready light stopped blinking on the plotter telling me that it did not recieve any thing. I also tried the generic driver with no success. _________________ Eddie Cook

Have you followed the directions in the Bullpen for setting up the Plotter in OS X? Figured out the IP address, etc?
The ones I posted for the 455CA should apply, except for the driver model choice.

I haven't followed the instructions in the bullpen yet. Can you send me a link to it? I looked around but the only thing I found in there was in Notes under Printing. There there was something about the 455ca but it was by Matt Arnold. Not sure if that is what you were talking about. Let me first give you a description of my set up. I have the hp Designjet 330 plotter, hp Jetdirect 300X OfficeConnect Print Server, a dual 1.25ghz power pc G4 Mac w/512 mb of memory running OS 10.2.8. I followed the instructions in the manual for installing the jet direct software and installed it on my pc first and got it to work through Autocad. I then dowloaded & installed gimp print on the above mentioned mac. I followed the instructions on installing gimp print using a "how to" article by the Sourceforge.net guys. I got the IP address from a test page that I generated from the Jet direct and after the initial installation on the PC (it printed out a congrats page). The IP address is 169.254.145.15. However, I was taking notes as I was doing the installation of the Jet direct software when I was installing it on the PC and got an IP address of 192.0.0.192. I tried both of the IP addresses with the HP 200 series & 400 series drivers and the generic driver. All of which did nothing which I stated in my previous response. I am looking forward to the next step. _________________ Eddie Cook

I Followed your instructions. I was able to get fragments of my document through the plotter. But no complete drawing. I tried all the 200 and 400 series hp plotters and the generic drivers again. _________________ Eddie Cook

Eddie:
Some people have found it necessary to replace the HP print server box. Alfred had to manually set the IP address for his plotter. ( the other link Matt noted) We did not.
I'm not sure what else to tell you. For us it was all or nothing. Once we got the printer set up properly in Printer SetUp Utiilty, we had no problems.
Huc or David Ross here on the forum might have some other suggestions.

Sorry for the long delay in responding. I have been working on my problem. I downloaded the X-rip demo and it worked, no problems. Gimp-print doesn't jive with my HP designjet 330. Which I new going into I was just hoping to avoid the inevitable I guess. Meaning I will be expensing the $400 dollar price tag for the X-rip software. Thanks for all your help. It was most appreciated.
