|
This just happened a few minutes ago. Running PC 7.06. Instead of activating the Edit window when an object is selected, the tab key runs through the little set of boxes in the lower left of the drawing window: the 4 arrow boxes, the layer, the sheet, etc. It's driving me crazy. Edit window will work if I click on one of parameter windows within it. Mac is a G5 powerpc, running 10.5.2 It was working ok when I started this morning. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Paul |

In case it happens to one of us, could you clue us in to what the problem was? (I tried searching and couldn't easily find anything...)
thanks,

I haven't been able to use the "tab" key to enter the selection box ever since I stopped using Powercadd 2000.
So how do you get it to work? Hitting the tab key just doesn't accomplish much. I miss having it work like it used to work. _________________ Peter Carlsen |

searching for 'tab edit window' at caddpower.com yields a few hits; the first one at this link is the answer to your question. A reminder that searching is only allowed for registered and logged in users.
I hope that helps

Were it as simple as going to the preference window and clicking on the button.
I do that.
The window looks just like the one in the instructions and still I have no ability to use the tab key to enter the edit box. _________________ Peter Carlsen |

Let me clarify my previous comment. In the process of drawing an object I can tab into the edit window.
My complaint is that if I select an object that is already drawn and hit tab, it does not, as in earlier versions, take you into the edit window.
Perhaps this quirk has already been chewed over and accepted as normal with the passage of time. It still is causing me to gag a bit as part of the new improved software that has undone things it used to do so well. _________________ Peter Carlsen |

No, that's not normal and thanks for the clarification.
So, when you press Tab, the edit window does not open (if it was previously closed). That could be a simple as a key command file corruption or conflict.
In PowerCADD v7 Check:
PowerCADD menu > Preferences > Commands...
and see if the item named invoke edit window is shown as you scroll through the list of key commands. If it's not there choose:
Miscellaneous > Open Edit Window and press the Tab key to reassign that key command.
That should correct the problem.
If the problem still persists, then quit PowerCADD, open User/Library/Preferences/PowerCADD/ and move the PowerCADD 7 Key Commands file to the Desktop. Relaunch PCD to have it make a new set of default key commands. That should in all cases correct the problem.
I hope that helps

I can tab into the edit window as you describe. Not a problem here.

Brian,
Thank you. Changing the comands, did the trick.
One other quirk with PC7... I wish the zoom in and out command worked with the preview box as it used to and be centered on where I click in the drawing. I think it much less refined to have it move in centered on the drawing origin, rather there where I click in the drawing.
