On my machine, PC8 appears to redraw about 4 times faster than PC7. I have a 5.7MB PowerCADD file that I have been using for benchmark speed tests since PC5. The file contains 72 layers, over 45,000 objects (includes symbols, hatches, and plenty of text at varying sizes). Here are some quick results:

PC7 Redraw: 3.5 seconds
PC8 Redraw: <1 second

PC7 42" Page Scroll: 16 seconds
PC8 42" Page Scroll: 5 seconds

PowerCADD Version 8.0.0, Build HD04.

SYSTEM:
OS X 10.5.2
15" Macbook Pro 2.5GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB memory
200GB 7200 RPM hard drive
NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with 512MB
Apple 20" Cinema Display (1680x1050), millions of colors

I am assuming that these tests are in the regular drawing performance mode (not the Fast Drawing Mode)?

Byron, out of curiousity, do you have a record of the PC5 & 6 benchmarks for that file?

Greg- Tests were run using Print Preview View, not High Performance View.

John- I will do that. I will have to re-install Classic on my G5 and then re-install PCADD 2000. Check back here tomorrow for results.
