Driving me nuts...
New installation of PCadd 8 International & WT 9. New dongles. Everytime I restart PCadd it asks for the install code again, then the WT install code, then the Warranty registration (with 8 mandatory fields!!!!!) then WT registration.
I uninstalled previous wibukey before installing new wibukey software.
I presume there is something I'm missing since nobody else seems to have complained about this!
Any ideas greatly appreciated (it's the weekend and distributors are not open for queries).
Ta.

David
don't know if it's relevant but I didn't uninstall old wibukey before installing new wibukey software and I've been up and running without any problem for the past few days.
If all else fails you could try e-mailing Paul at PRD
Cheers

David,
I guessing it is a problem with permissions rather than the dongle. The behaviour your experiencing could be the result of PowerCADD not being allowed to write the files with the information you're entering.
Try repairing the permissions on your system.

Hi Keith David and Derek,
Yes this is almost always permissons. Just run disk tools on the mac and repair permissions.
Cheers

| I've run into this too, with PowerCADD 7 as well. I'm sure it is related to permissions, but repairing them with Disk Utility doesn't help. I was pulling my hair out and then I just tried installing PowerCADD under a different user account, and it worked. I suppose it's installing some hidden file that doesn't reside in the ~/Library/Preferences/PowerCADD folder, so no amount of trashing preferences will fix that. It's very annoying. |

| Worth noting, especially with Leopard that you must be in the "admin" user account when you install. If you dont have full admin rights on the mac it will likely fail. |

Just to close this thread...
The problem is created because the previous PC7 was installed by another admin user prior to installation of PC8 and PC7 created the registration plist directory /Library/Preferences/Network with RW permissions only for that user. Group & Other permissions were read-only. Therefore PC8 could not write the registration plist into that directory. The original admin user no longer exists on the computer.
Solution: change the Group permission on the Network directory to allow writing by other admin group users....
...in Terminal app...
sudo chmod 775 /Library/Preferences/Network |
