it's an interesting question - a campus generally means an area which is for university or college use, sometimes hospitals or schools.

it is the land on which the educational buildings stand or are to be developed. More recently it has come to be an accepted term for schools developments. However where the educational institutions are in an urban setting then it may be used to apply to the district.

I think that it is the Latin word for a field.

A group of structures untited by a common purpose & ownership.

While most people think the word is synonymous with schools, it is also appropriate for for any other multi-building development.

yes, i researched it, and all i would see would be for universities and such type of structural work. so i tried to put it in a different perspective on viewing the term and came up with neighborhood because if we think about it - a campus has neighbors - buildings close together and also a community and i am still researching a bit more. i actually would like to know what it means in latin, so i will look that up. what do you guys think of the way im heading with the definition? thanks for the replys back.
