I am studying Arch. Engineering undergraduate and have only 2 or 3 works I did for classes.
I have to add more works to my portfolio for the grad school application.
But how do you make more works?
I mean, I cannot just randomly design buildings. I need a topic to work on. Does anybody have any idea?
Thanks |

Kari - i found myself in the same dilema when it came time for me to apply for grad school. It's not easy to create works from thin air, as you know, not having a multitude of works from experience. I took my current works from u-grad, as well as a personal section with paintings and photography etc, and presented them very well graphically. Architects are best practiced when well rounded, therefore, these schools are looking to see who you are and what you're all about, rather than just seeing architectural works. I had a colleague who was denied admission alongside me but his portfolio was much more extensive in terms of cad work/experience, as his father owned a design build co. Lead with your best, and if its something you question, don't put it in... the phrase "less is more" will take on a new meaning for you each day as you grow into your role as a young architect. Be creative above all. good luck.
