Hello
I live in Thailand where there's bamboo a-plenty and I want to build a modular house on some rented land as an experiment in contemporary design built from this wonderful material.
I've researched bamboo for almost a year and found that structural bamboo is stronger than steel and more fire resistant than timber built houses. However, the locals seem to use it mainly for keeping spam in. haha.
I'm aware of just one company constructing houses completely from bamboo in neighbouring Vietnam, but I want to build something ecologically sustainable and contemporary.
I intend to start with small modules, maybe 3x4 approx metres so as not to overwhelm my local outlets, and then perhaps move up as they gain more confidence
I have several photographs gleaned from the web, of ideas for the design and am looking for someone to put it all together in a form I can present to the local manufacturer, and then stand over them. Well, I did it with my lovely naturally air cooled eco house here, so this project will hopefully be less of a headache
If any of you architectural draughtsman out there could help out, please let me know. Thankyou
