| just got a new Mac and it runs on 10.5, I fully updated my PC7 but it will not open a file, it keeps crashing. Will PC7 work on OS 10.5 or greater or do I need PC8? |

Officially you need 8 but 7 seems to be working for me. I reported some issues regarding PC screwing up file paths on an autosave a while back but otherwise seems relatively stable. It does give you the warning when you boot PC doesn't it (that is is not recommended for 7)?
Be warned though that if you do not have an Intel Mac you will not be able to run 8. That is the unfortunate dilemma I am in too. Pretty expensive CAD upgrade when you need to upgrade a machine too.

Nope, the files are interchangeable.

If I remember correctly, there might be some issue with PC8's "advanced text" not being editable in PC7. I did just open a PC8 file in PC7 and the file seemed okay, but the layer colors seemed messed up (but was easily fixed by: select all, cut, paste special through layers). (This particular file didn't have advanced text in it.)

There may be issues of course....I was quoting from PC8's "marketing" comments on ES's website.
The real issue here is that PC7 should at least open and run decent on Leopard. Why you cannot open a file is the related issue. Might be worth trashing preference files and copying commands and other customized setting files to the desktop to substitute back in if you can get 7 running, which you should.
Can you boot the application (not opening a file) or will the app not open at all? Did you use the migration manager to basically copy from your old machine or did you install everything from scratch?

I'm using OS 10.5.6 and PC 7 on an Intel Mac. No real problems, other than the usual.
Did you get PC running? |
