When I click and drag a window around an object to select it, the window is selecting any objects that it touches. I have to option click to get it to select objects normally. How do I turn this off, or swap the tool so that when I hold option down, it selects like the old "finger" selection?

Bill Stanley, you should be ashamed of yourself, shipping Jason a copy of PowerCADD without a manual.

Jason -- look under Preferences, in the tools tab.
