I am new to this forum so I am not sure I am posting to the correct section but here goes.
I own a 50+ year old, one & a half story four bedroom home that my friend selling real estate considers a Cape Cod/English Tudor. The front facade consists of brick interlaced with stone with a large gable that protrudes down into the chimney, front door and landing. My problem is the landing which is of concrete construction has deteriorated and must be replaced. The uncovered landing is approximately 94 inches wide by 50 inches deep with 4 steps from the side. I would like to replace this landing with a larger more usable space that fits in with the character of my home. I can find all kind of "deck" ideas made of wood in magazines and on web sites, but as my neighbor tells me I'm building a porch structure, not a deck. Can someone point me in the right direction to come up with a successful design which will fit the home's character while giving my wife and I enough space to sit on and enjoy a pleasant evening's sunset? Thanks in advance for any ideas or direction anyone can come up with. |
