Wow, two posts on my first day... well, I've wrestled most of the problems with the illustrator file conversion down (http://www.designcommunity.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=3274429#3274429), but one lingering problem persists... I can't make text white to save my life. Pcadd 6 was able to do it, so what gives? I've got the new attributes window open, but no combination of line / fill colors etc gives me just plain old white text. I'm sure this one is simple operator error. Argh!

| Derek- thanks for that- however that is exactly what I've tried, to no avail. The text simply reverts to a black line color as soon as I click off of the text box. Perhaps it's another adorable powercadd quirk after all.

| OK, figured it out. If a layer has an assigned color, apparently one cannot alter the color of an individual object on that layer. Is this a WYSIWYG issue, or simply a silly way to manage object colors onscreen? I love this program. I love this program. I love this program.

| To me, it is a useful way to organize the line color of items in a drawing-- both for visual cues on the monitor, as well as printing. If you want varied line colors put them on a non colored layer-- best of all worlds

| Michael- of course that's the point of color by layer (ACAD style) which is critical in any production drafting environment. The problem comes when, as in my case, one has a black object, over which on wishes to place text, and the two object must share a layer (not for pretty picture purposes, but for proper and standardized sheet management). In Illustrator, Vector Works, and even (gasp) ACAD one can override layer color for individual objects, and can control the color of text independently anyway, since this kind of issue comes up a lot with text. I completely agree that color by layer is useful, it's just not fully developed in Pcadd, in my opinion.
