My understanding was that the planned new Mairie project was blocked because of the Listing (classement) of the station structure by Catherine Tasca.

Whatever the rights and wrongs of how the site/buildings are used, surely the question of whether or not to retain the disused structure (because a new terminus had been built to the west) should have been discussed before the competition was held for the new Mairie (and which was linked to the tramway project - now under construction).

What is certainly apparent locally is that discussion about how the old station structure could be used has only really started more recently - and I would not question that your project clearly has a strong influence in that.

While I might not find Prosper Bobin's building as significant as you (and many others) do, I did see the shortlisted schemes for the new Mairie and none of them seemed to add the essential character to the area of Malaussena-Liberation that would have made any of the schemes appear as an improvment.

In other words, if the new schemes have less character and style than what is there already (Bobin's building), why not - as you are doing - make use of the existing building ?
