Hi all,
I am planning to take sustainable architecture as my research topic.
First i would like to understand the term clearly-are "Green buildings" and "sustainable architecture" one and the same.If they are then why do buildings that have al cladding, curtain walls are called green buildings.Afterall sustainability is all about using local materials and materials that materials that are suitable for a particular type of climate.
I wanted to do a reseach which is based on "importance of using locally available materials in India" and about how they are sustainable. For the building typology i intend to do mass housing project which can be a self sustained community. All suggestions are welcome.Plz help. |

wel....the answer to the question is mostly opinion based....which is wat?...green bldg n sustainable architecture....i feel they are the same ...green building is a wider application of sustainable architecture....green bldg aims at creating building environs which do not adversely affect the environment....it looks to conserve water, electricity, etc....through rain water harvesting, cavity walls, orientation, use of materials which have low heat conductivity.....etc etc etc...many of these can be acheived through sustainable architecture. thus the similarity
