Well, I'm leaving this paradise for a few years to get my masters degree in Architecture. I've been using PawerCADD for five years now, after using AutoCad for about 3 years previous (college and structural engineering job). Anywho, I wanted to thank Bill and the staff at engsw for such personal help, and for paying attention to the input of users. I thought the FormZ community was helpful, they don't even hold a candle to you guys. I started here as the "but in autocad" guy, and have now become the guy who trains and breaks autocad users of their bad habits. I have also found that productivity is much higher using PowerCADD as compared to AutoCAD drafstman/desigers/architects is much higher, not to mention the mental wellbeing. I used to have a headache after hours of drafting in Autocad... that went away 5 years ago.
The firm I am leaving has been a long time powercadd users. In Kailua - Kona, Hawaii, there have to be more PowerCADD users per capita than anywhere else - I'd say the ratio of PowerCADD to AutoCAD/Microstation users here is 1:1. So if any of you guys are fixing to move to the tropics, you could fit in nicely over here. The residential market has been booming and isn't showing any signs of slowing down.
If there are any PowerCADD users in Austin, Texas, it would be great to get together or even start a community. I have tons of work (i'm going to be working full time for an architect here in hawaii the whole time), so if anybody is in the austin area and needs some pick up work, let me know.
Aloha - Jason

Good luck, Jason, and congrats on acceptance to your program.
I started usnig PowerCADD in Kailua-Kona myself.
Maybe you can change some minds at the University.
I assume we'll still "see" you around, though.

| Peter - I bought a new G4 laptop and am going to be using PowerCADD for all of my drawings from here on out. The combo of PowerCADD, sketchup, and FormZ is very powerful and I plan on sticking to it! And I will definately be posting here. I also plan on returning to Kona in 3 years. |
