Hi,

First of all, good job on the new forum format - looks like it will be much easier and more efficient to use.

My question is about "disappearing" toolbars. I am running PowerCADD 6.0.9 on OS 9.2.2 (strange combination, I know...), and my Layer toolbar / box / whatever it's called just disappears off the screen when I double click it - In the Window drop-down menu it still appears with a check mark, and it also appears on the Anchor menu, but it is nowhere to be found!

Any ideas on how to fix this (short of deleting the defaults file and re-starting every time it happens)?

Thanks.

"windows" off screen can be quickly recovered under OS 9 by trashing the PowerCADD v6 Defaults found in the Preferences folder within the System folder.

The prerequisite is to have PowerCADD v6 NOT running.

When you get PowerCadd defaults and preferences to the way you like them, copy them to another folder for safe keeping. If they get corrupted and you lose them again, just copy them and paste them. No need to reinstall the whole program.

Thank you both for your help - it is still disappointing to know that this remains the best solution to this problem. Is this a bug that the programmers have identified and are working on fixing for future releases? It seemed to be an issue in PC 2000 as well.....

Cheers,

Jason

This is NOT an application bug.

Applications, that permit the storing (for later recall - ie where you last left them) the location of Windows within an application, record the X,Y pixel location of each such window. When the user changes directly or inadvertantly the screen resolution, the windows appear at the X,Y location that was recorded. Such X,Y location may now be off screen.

Instead of trashing the Defaults file (in which these X,Y locations are stored), the user can quit the application and reset the resolution back to what it was when these windows were "recorded".

Most often, the user can not remember what that screen resolution was. Accordingly, the quick fix is to trash the Defaults and start all over again.

btw Some websites and games do change your monitor resolution without asking or notifying you.
