Generally, in the area of mind climate, how much area a roof drain serves well?
I am thinking it would be safe to say 5,000 sf?

The size of the gutter, downspouts and scuppers is what determines how much roof can be drained...in other words, you would have to calculate how much roof area first, how many locations would work with a drain (and emergency overflow) and calculate how big of a drain you need. Keep in mind, this area of roof muct include vertical surfaces and sloped roofs. The tributary areas should be defined for you in the tables of your building code...
