does anyone have any theories as to why the arrow keys don't navigate your cursor when editing text in PowerCADD? It seems to work sometimes and not other times. Strange, for a mature (v8) cad program.

anyone got any workarounds?

and even weirder, when I click command+E to edit the text in it's own window, I can't change the width of the window. you have to scroll it.

hmm.

I am using PC88.0.1 and I just tried it and I can use the arrow keys in both the edit window and in the text in the drawing. Maybe this is just one of the times when it seems to work.

Also, I can resize my text edit window, but it seems to have a maximum and a minimum size.

If you zoom the text in the window -- say you have 10pt text in your drawing and would like to edit it at 200%, you will not be able to resize the editing window wide enough to see all the text.

How is it that we accept the arrow keys 'not working right now'?? Is there any other software that exhibits this behavior on your computer?

I can zoom in and resize the window and use the arrow keys. I am using "regular" text -- are you using Advanced Text?

(I just ran an Advanced Text test and I could also resize and use arrow keys, regardless of zoom level.)

just plain old regular text in a file created in 7. Down arrow key sometimes works when inside a selected text object (open for editing in the drawing) and sometimes does not. When I have a text object open in a window (via command+E) the window will not resize wider.

The arrow keys should work everywhere in text, up, down, left, and right -- exactly the way they do in every other application. That's what they are for.

I have the same issues in PC7. The arrow keys will mover the cursor left anf right, but not up and down through the text. Also, the "Home" and "End" keys are useless in PC7 and most other Mac apps.

What's up with that..??

I just tried to use "Home" to edit this text and got zero response.
