I'm working with PC 6 and in my drawings I mainly use the Verdana font.
Yesterday I had the idea to clean, via the free Linotype Explorer X, all the fonts in System, Library and User not installed by the Mac OS X installation (see picture). This because the list of all the available fonts was really long and inconvenient to use with the PC menu.
I generally use very few fonts as mentioned above.

Now after using the Linotype and when I open any PC drawing, PowerCADD doesn't find any more the Verdana font and substitute it with Times.
The problem is that Verdana is STILL there in the right folder (/System/Library/Fonts), but PowerCADD doesn't recognize (see) it.

I have to check all the text and manually re-assign the proper font style. In fact I can't do this with only one command, because styles, even if the font is the same, are different (Plain, bold, italic)!

Can anyboby help?
Thanks

I suggest you start Linotype Explorer X and hit Undo.

But seriously, I believe PowerCADD uses and references fonts by their I.D. numbers rather than by their names so you've probably deleted the copy of Verdana in one of the locations that has the I.D. number your drawings have imbedded in them.

There have been many discussions about this in this forum so do a bit of searching. Unfortunately I seem to recall very few successful stories about recovering from situations like the one you describe. Sad

I'd try copying the Verdana font file back from System/Library/Fonts into all the other locations:
/Library/Fonts
/user/Library/Fonts
It might work and is at least worth a try.

Thanks for your suggestions, but at last I could recover ALL the drawings in their original font (Verdana).

I ran again Clean System Fonts Folder in Linotype, then Clean System font cache. I put back the Verdana font only in /user/Library/Fonts.
I ran again PowerCADD and … bingo all my drawings have now the previous chosen font.

I'll never move out Verdana from the User folder! Very Happy
