Checkpoint, what is it that you do ? What do you call your profession ? I'm just curious. You mentioned "promoting architects."
In what sense are architects (and others) "fed" here -- and by whom ? The homeowners certainly aren't paying anything for whatever feedback they get on discussion fora like this one.

Hi SDR,
Nice to meet you.
I own a display booth which allows architects and residential designers to exhibit their work, and attract customers.
According to the National Association of Home Builders, 80% of owner-built homes come from stock plans.
Apparently, people like to look at plans, so I make it possible for you to show them your own work.
Current methods force you to wait until a customer is referred to you, and you spend half a day in your office, trying to "sell yourself" to him. (Let's pull out your portfolio now, and show it to them.)
With the display, you know that the people who call you have already seen your work and know they want to hire you.
"Chris designs European homes? Gee! I thought he only did garages. I'm going to give him a call."
An extra bonus:
25% of stock plans are built "as-is" meaning you make money automatically.
It's your own work, so you set your own price, and get paid in full.
And modifying your own plans removes any copyright protection issues.
I've been talking to building supply stores, who are interested in putting in displays.
I'm also promoting architects in Virginia and Pennsylvania.
If The Contractor Yard signs a deal, I'll be in 90 stores in 15 states on the East Coast.
Do you want to display your work in California? (Mucho information-o)
Or just display your name in the SF phone book? (What's an S.D.R?)
That's what I mean by "I promote architects".

Porch completed.
Finished and painted.
The actual measurement is 6 ft from the face of the brick to the outside edge of the porch. So there's about 5 ft of space between house and columns. So they have room for a porch swing if they want one.
There's also recessed lights overhead.

Shortly after taking these photos, Peter emerged from the house and ran me off.
Just kidding.
But he did say that phansford's discussions on proportion were very helpful.

The first photos you posted - the gable looked to have kurfed siding... but its actually "shingles".
Do you know if they used wood or it this the new James Hardie product?
If its the Hardie product - was it pre-finished? I forget their name for it... but it carries a 15 year warranty on the color. |

I figured they would trim those columns. Earlier I think you said one of the top architects in the area did this job -is that correct?
