O.k here it is, the big question, do ya buy a Mac or PC if your an industrial designer? I've worked on PC all my life, but just recently i've had this inclanation to use Mac, why? As an industrial designer, I sit on the fence between the creative Mac people and the engineers PC!!! At the moment I use Auto CAD and Max, could somone please advise me what are the best 3D packages available to me as a Mac user? And how good is the G5 powerMac Dual as a CAD workstation? If you think it's better to stick with PC are you able to give me the Lowdown on any new Industrial design product, the complexities of Autocad and Max are driving me NUTS!!! A big Thanks to anyone able to send links or help me on this!!!

Both will do just fine, it's just a matter of taste. No Max nor Acad on the G5 though, remember that. Ashlem-Vellum (http://www.ashlar-vellum.com/) makes industrial design apps for both platforms. Well also remember that any technical application will be complex. I have been using AutoCAD since 1989 and I still learn a thing or two every now and then. Alias (makers of Maya) (www.alias.com) makes a sweet set of design tools called "Studio Tools" but they are for Windows and Irix only. Another good one that is well priced is Rhino (www.rhino3d.com). It is a sweet nurbs application that is hard to beat. It is priced under $1,600 for the entire set, oh PC only. The person makes the design not the software or platform Wink Use the ones that you like best.
