Is it possible to have a reference to a plan or a drawing? For example to create a floor plan and either have it appear in another file or in a unique location on a different sheet. A second part to that question is, can the original be modified and have the files to which it is referenced change with it?

Yes
The Reference menu item is designed to do exactly what you're describing. IT's worth reviewing that section of the PCadd manual for helpful background information. Then experiment with a simple 8.5x11 test file to better understand the nuances
Hope that helps

To clarify my other post:
Yes, References allow a drawing to be used in another file which is their intended use.
While you can create a circular reference (that is, reference a file to itself) and re-scale or move it, that's not a good idea as the results could get bizarre so 'No' would be the safe answer.
sorry for the confusion

is there a method of updating only a selected reference?
The manual page 4-252 talks about Update All, but there's no mention of a way to 'update selected' [update only a desired reference, not all of them].
Perhaps this is something that goes on the wish list?

Thanks very much for the heads up on the reference menu. I have looked at this feature and find it to just get me started into my real search but not as complete as I had hoped. I do hope that is a not yet anyway.
There are issues like, using the saved sheets that have been saved from original file(s). What about referencing a pdf or some other text file. I am sure there are others. This is just my first reaction.
Thanks again.
