Hi all
I am new yo this forum. I am working on my book in fashion photography. The reason I am writing in this forum is that as a photographer I really need to look for interesting backgounds for my models. The studios with plain backgrounds are getting old.
I love what I see in architectural magazines -those are the kinds of sets I would rather work in. When you look at fashion magazines that photograph models in interiors, I often see the kinds of backgrounds that I would see in architecture magazines. So for my book, I would like to get access to these environments.
Any ideas? I live in the Seattle area. I have contacted interior design departments of colleges, and art schools via email and placing flyers on bulletin boards at these insitutions and got no response. Seattle has an architectural design center where interior designers showcase their work -the concierge won't even let me in the building to see what designers are doing so I can make a list of designers I'd like to collaborate with (this design center has a list of designers on their website -I've tried emailing one of them anyway without ever seeing their work just to see if there was any intrest. No luck) Since the things I have tried aren't working, I fear that there is something in my aproach that could burn bridges if I'm not careful. I have a medium format camera (645 film) and I am more than willing to trade services with designers and photograph their work for them in exchange for the use of the environment that they design for my fashion purposes. My offers are ignored. Do students of architecture need to have their work documented? How do they find photographers? Help! |
